FT: The Portuguese Champions created some good chances and went close when Pizzi tested Ospina from-range but the keeper made a straightforward save before Pizzi forced the Colombian into a fine save at his near-post. Substitute Jiménez then fired an effort just wide of the far-post.

FT: Arsenal created some good chances and found the net after an own-goal from substitute López, who put into his own-net after attempting to block a teasing delivery from Walcott, before Walcott fired over the bar after fine hold-up-play from Giroud. Giroud then volleyed home after a fine cross from Nelson before Giroud was denied on the volley by César. Iwobi then added a fifth.

FT: So Arsenal defeat Benfica to top the Emirates Cup table.

HT: So will it be Arsenal to find the next goal and win the game or will Benfica cause an upset in front of the Gunners fans? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: The game has been very open with both sides looking to burst on the attack, but they have both looked nervous defensively. Benfica have got into some promising positions but have delayed the strike on a few occasions, allowing Arsenal to get men behind the ball and block the strike. Arsenal have looked a threat on the attack but haven’t made the most of their chances and a number of defensive lapses has gifted Benfica, who have been clinical, two goals.

HT: Arsenal created some good chances and went close when Giroud was brilliantly denied by a point-blank-save from César before Walcott volleyed home after good play from Kolašinac. Walcott then put Arsenal ahead after a neat exchange from Coquelin and Kolašinac.

HT: Benfica created some good chances and took the lead when Cervi’s strike from inside the area ricocheted fortuitously off Mertesacker to beat Ospina before Pizzi forced Ospina into a fine save. Salvio then levelled the scores for the Águias with a deflected strike after Nelson lost possession in his own-half.

HT: So we’re level at the break with two goals apiece with nothing to separate the two sides.
