ET FT: The result means that Portugal finish their first ever FIFA Confederations Cup campaign in third while Mexico finish in fourth place, ahead of the Final between Chile and Germany.

ET FT: Portugal deserved the victory on the balance of play. They dominated the match and created a number of fine chances, of which they were wasteful. Mexico were clinical in normal-time but Pepe’s header ensured that Portugal weren’t to be beaten as the European Champions found the winner from the spot in Extra-Time, where both sides were reduced to ten-men.

ET FT: Mexico created a few chances and went close when Herrera’s volley from-range forced Patrício into a fine save after Jiménez was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card for a high challenge on Eliseu, before Moreno headed a Lozano cross inches wide.

ET FT: The European Champions didn’t create many chances in the second period of Extra-Time but went close when a Quaresma strike deflected inches over the bar from-range after Semedo was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a high challenge on Lozano.

ET FT: So Portugal defeat Mexico to earn third place in their debut FIFA Confederations Cup campaign.

HT: So will Portugal make their dominance count and find a goal or will Mexico stun the European Champions? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Portugal have spurned a number of great opportunities including a penalty. They will have to be more clinical in front of goal as they know they can’t keep passing-up chances as they have done.
