Cameroon vs Chile

FIFA Confederations Cup 2017

Group B

June 18th

Otkrytie Arena, Moscow, Russia

81′ Vidal

90’+1′ Vargas

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Chile move to the top of Group B on three points ahead of Australia’s clash with Germany, while Cameroon drop to the bottom of the table.

FT: Cameroon’ didn’t create many chances in the second-half and their best chance in the second-half fell to Moukandjo, who curled a freekick just wide.

FT: Chile didn’t create many chances in the second-half but went close on a few occasions and should have scored when Isla somehow headed wide with the goal gaping, following a corner before Vidal headed home. Vargas then added a second late-on after substitute Sánchez was denied by substitute Mandjeck on the line after rounding the keeper.

FT: So Chile defeat Cameroon to move to the top of Group B.

HT: So will Chile make their dominance count and open the scoring or will Cameroon cause an upset? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Chile have created so many clear-cut chances but haven’t been clinical enough and will need to be more clinical if they are to find a goal as they won’t want to rue their missed opportunities. Cameroon haven’t had many chances as expected, but they will need to make the most of them if they are to pose a threat and stun the Chileans.

HT: Cameroon created some good chances and went close when Aboubakar cut-inside to force Herrera into a good save with his feet before Ngadeu-Ngadjui had a goal disallowed after the referee spotted an infringement. Moukandjo then fired an effort wide from-range.

HT: Chile started in the ascendancy and very nearly took the lead when Vargas struck the post before Fuenzalida forced Ondoa into a fine save. Puch then tested Ondoa from-range before Fuenzalida was played through on-goal but Ondoa tipped the ball behind. Vargas was then played through on-goal by Vidal but he fired the ball over the bar before then firing home but the referee disallowed the strike as Vargas was very marginally offside.

HT: So we’re goalless with nothing to separate the two sides, although Chile will be disappointed that their goal was flagged for offside, despite being marginal.

45’+1′ The referee blows his whistle to bring the first 45 minutes to an end.
