Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Real Madrid completed the double, having won the league already this season. The title was their 12th Champions League title overall and the victory also meant that they became the first side to successfully defend the Champions League title in consecutive seasons since the competition was formerly known as the European Cup (Milan were the last side to defend the European Cup back in 1990). The defeat for Juventus meant that the Italian side lost a third consecutive Champions League Final following defeats in 2003 and 2015. Their last triumph came back in 1996, 21 years ago, which was their second title.

FT: Juventus created very little in the second-half in truth, their best chance fell to Sandro, who flicked a header just wide before Cuadrado, who was already on a booking, received a second yellow card before seeing red.

FT: Madrid started the second-half well and created a number of good chances. First Modrić tested Buffon with a strike from-range before Casemiro’s deflected strike from-range put the Spaniards ahead. Ronaldo then added a third from a Modrić cross before substitute Asensio swept home a fourth late-on after Marcelo’s pull-back.

FT: So Real Madrid win the Champions League for the 12th time and they become the first side to successfully defend their title.

HT: So will Juventus or Real Madrid find the all-important next goal to be crowned Champions of Europe? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Madrid haven’t really got out of third gear and will need to be at their best if they are to get the better of this well-drilled and disciplined Juventus side. They have to also be clinical, knowing the quality of defence that they’re up against, who will try and restrict the number of chances. They have Gareth Bale among others on the bench if required. They will also need to be wary of Juventus’ threat as they won’t want to concede against a side, who know how to defend well.

HT: Juventus have done well to keep Madrid at bay for the majority of the first-half. They have created a number of good chances but will need to be more clinical in front of-goal given the threat Madrid have, they will not want to rue their missed opportunities. They will need to continue restricting the number of chances Madrid produce, they have done well thus far to close down the space and press their opponents.

HT: Real Madrid started relatively slower than their opposition but found the net with their first real chance when Ronaldo fired home. The Portuguese then headed wide after Mandžukić brilliantly levelled the scores.

HT: Juventus initially started well and created a number of good chances early-on. First Higuaín fired an effort at-goal that Navas parried before Pjanić’s half-volley was brilliantly denied by the Costa-Rican. Mandžukić then found the net spectacularly with an acrobatic volley after Ronaldo put the Spanish side ahead.

HT: So we’re level at the break with a goal apiece with nothing to separate the two sides.
