UEFA Champions League

Semi-final, Second-leg

May 9th

Juventus Stadium, Turin, Italy

Aggregate: (4-1)

33′ Mandžuk

44′ Alvesić

68′ Mbappé

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Juventus will progress into their ninth Final in the competition, hoping to win the competition for the third time. They will face either Atlético Madrid or Real Madrid. Monaco bow out of the competition at the Semi-final stage for the third time, the second time against Juventus since 1998.

FT: Juventus know that they will face tougher tests in the Final against either a probable Real Madrid side or Atlético Madrid.

FT: Monaco did produce a couple of chances to score with Mbappé first denied by Buffon when the youngster was sent through on-goal by Sidibé. Mbappé then found the net when he tapped home from a low cross from Moutinho.

FT: Juventus looked comfortable throughout both legs of their Semi-final and thoroughly deserved their victory. They didn’t create as many chances as they did in the first-half but did go close to extending their aggregate lead further when substitute Cuadrado was sent through on-goal by Pjanić, but the Colombian delayed his strike, which was eventually blocked.

FT: So Juventus are the first team to book a place in the UEFA Champions League Final.

HT: So will Juventus add to their tally or will Monaco find a consolation? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Juventus will just need to ensure that they don’t concede to open even the slightest glimmer of hope to Monaco. Juventus are just 45 minutes away from a place in the Champions League Final.

HT: The visitors started brightly and went close when Mbappé struck the post albeit from an offside position. The youngster then fired an effort just wide from a tight-angle following a corner. The visitors have Subašić to thank for keeping the scoreline relatively low, the keeper has made a string of fine saves but his punch on the stroke of half-time led to Alves’ goal. Monaco will be playing for pride in the second-half. They need to be more clinical if they are to deny Juventus from getting a clean-sheet.

HT: The hosts started slow but eventually found their rhythm. First Higuaín had a good chance when he surged onto a loose ball to send a chipped-effort just wide before Mandžukić was denied by his compatriot Subašić, who smothered the effort. Pjanić was then denied by a fine block from Raggi before Mandžukić put the Bianconeri ahead, firing the ball home after his header was palmed away by Subašić. Higuaín then had a goal disallowed for offside before the Argentine produced a fine save from Subašić after a fine pass from Mandžukić. Dybala then went close when his effort was palmed over the bar by Subašić after Alves did well to dispossess Mendy. Alves then scored from the resulting-corner when he brilliantly volleyed the ball home after Subašić’s punch fell to the Brazilian.

HT: So Juventus are almost certainly through to the Final.
