Premier League

April 4th

Old Trafford, Manchester, England

1-1

22′ Jagielka

90’+3′ Williams Sent Off

90’+4′ Ibrahimović (P)

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Manchester United remain in fifth on 54 points, while Everton remain in seventh on 51 points.

FT: The hosts created a number of chances and also had a goal controversially disallowed for marginal offside. First substitute Pogba headed an effort against the bar before Fellaini fired wide from close-range. Ibrahimović then had a goal disallowed for marginal offside before Fellaini fired an effort just over the bar under-pressure after Robles punched a cross-field pass from Pogba into his path. Rojo then headed the ball over the bar after a fine Herrera cross before Ibrahimović headed the ball over the bar under-pressure from Williams. Williams was then penalised for deliberate handball, which denied a clear-goal-scoring opportunity and saw red before Ibrahimović then fired home the resulting-penalty.

FT: The result was harsh on Everton, who defended so well but William’s handball proved to be costly. The Toffees didn’t create many chances in the second-half but they did go close when Mirallas tested De Gea with a strike from-range before Lukaku had an effort blocked by Bailly.

FT: So a last minute penalty from Ibrahimović denies Everton the chance to go fifth.

HT: So will United come back in this match or will Everton add to their tally and hold on? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: United will feel unlucky not to have at least a goal, despite hitting the bar, but Everton’s defence has been terrific. United will need to be more clinical if they are to find a way back in this match and they have to get Rashford and Ibrahimović more involved and provide them with better service. Everton will need to prevent both of them from finding space in the danger-areas and will need to continue their clinical nature in front of goal as they have done thus far. Lukaku has been below his usual best but the visitors will need him to be on his best against a United side, who are more than capable of making Everton rue their missed opportunities.

HT: United have created a number of good chances but have been denied due to a combination of some fantastic defending and brilliant keeping. First Ibrahimović was played through but Williams made a fine challenge to deny the striker before Robles palmed away a Rashford strike although the flag was already up. Blind then forced Robles into a fine save from a freekick before Herrera fired the rebound against the bar. Herrera then produced a terrific save from Robles from-range before Rashford was denied by Jagielka on the stroke of half-time.

HT: The visitors didn’t create many chances but they have been clinical in front of-goal and deserve their lead. First Mirallas forced De Gea into a good save at his near-post before Jagielka wonderfully put the Toffees ahead with an acrobatic finish. Lukaku then fired an effort wide from the edge of the area.

HT: So Everton lead at the break.
