UEFA Champions League

Round of 16, Second-leg

March 14th

Juventus Stadium, Turin, Italy

1-0

Aggregate: (3-0)

39′ M. Pereira Sent off

41′ Dybala (P)

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Juventus progressed into the Quarter-finals of the competition for the tenth time whilst Porto exited the competition.

FT: Porto created a number of good chances in the second-half and should have at least found the net once. First Soares had a great chance after dispossessing Benatia but he fired just wide before substitute Jota chipped the ball into the side-netting when played through on-goal. Then Jota surged forward before firing a deflected effort that produced a straightforward save from Buffon.

FT: The hosts had a number of opportunities to extend their lead. First Casillas was forced into a fine save from after D. Pereira miscued a headed-clearance goalwards from an Alves cross before substitute Pjaca fired an effort just wide after a nice flick-on from Mandžukić. Higuaín then fired an effort just wide after turning his man, but the damage was already inflicted in the first-leg and more importantly when M. Pereira was sent off in the first-half.

FT: So Juventus progress into the Quarter-finals.

HT: So will Juventus extend their lead or will Porto produce the impossible and score three goals to progress into the Quarter-finals? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: The visitors did well to stay in the contest up until the 39th minute. They got into some promising positions but haven’t been able to properly test Buffon, with a Soares effort from-range, which produced a comfortable save from Buffon, the closest they have come. The visitors will need to dig deep after being reduced to ten-men for the second consecutive game against Juventus. They will need to try and create as many chances as they can in the second-half albeit with ten-men. They will need to provide Soares and Silva with better service if they are to find goals but even that will be a very difficult task against a well-drilled Juventus side, who don’t look like giving them a look-in.

HT: The hosts started well and created a number of good chances. First Dybala fired an effort over the bar from a tight-angle before firing an effort just wide from-range. Mandžukić then went close with a header that Casillas saved after a teasing delivery from Cuadrado before Dybala sliced an effort wide on the stretch. Mandžukić then went close when his flicked-header from a corner drifted just wide before Cuadrado fired just over the bar after Dybala scored from the penalty-spot.

HT: So Juventus lead on the night and by three goals on aggregate.
