Stamford Bridge, London, England
Thanks for joining us.
FT: The result means that Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the league by 12 points as they move onto 59 points whilst Arsenal remain in third on 47 points before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures. The defeat is also the fifth consecutive Premier League defeat for the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.
FT: The scoreline flatters Arsenal in reality as Chelsea could and possibly should have made it four or five, although the only positive is that they managed to prevent Chelsea from keeping a clean-sheet: Chelsea’s only blip.
FT: Arsenal did create some good chances in the second-half in an attempt to come back in the match, especially since falling behind. First a dangerous Monreal cross was cleared by Cahill then a Welbeck header was palmed away by Courtois with a fine save before Mustafi headed wide from a corner. Giroud did add a late consolation with a powerful header that Courtois should have done better to keep out.
FT: Chelsea dominated their London rivals and added to their first-half goal with some fine finishing. Before goals from Hazard and Fàbregas, Costa went close when his effort was smothered by Čech although the flag was already up. Then Hazard fantastically doubled the Blues’ lead, completing a brilliant solo-run. Moses then fired an effort at goal from-range but Čech made an easy save before Fàbregas’ expertly finished lobbed. Alonso then went close from a Fàbregas pass but Čech made a comfortable save. Costa then could have extended their lead, having dispossessed his man and having support but went alone and fired the ball over the bar.
FT: So Chelsea extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 12 points.

HT: So will Chelsea hold onto their lead and add to their tally or will Arsenal come back to keep their title-hopes alive? Join us again for the second-half.
HT: Arsenal will need to find a goal if they are to stand the slight chance of winning the title. Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck are on the bench and may be summoned if things fail to improve. Chelsea have a lead to hold onto but will need a second goal to put the tie to bed. The Blues have former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas as well as Willian on the bench and they may be summoned to unlock the Arsenal defence again.
HT: Chelsea could have added to their tally on a few occasions had they been more clinical – with the final pass letting them down. First Costa was played through by Hazard and had support but delayed the pass before being crowded out following a swift break. Then Pedro almost sent Costa through on-goal but Mustafi made a good interception.
HT: Arsenal initially started well and went close to taking the lead when a loose pass from Courtois was dispossessed allowing Iwobi to fire an effort just wide via a deflection. Since going behind Arsenal did create quite a few chances with Coquelin firing over the bar following a corner before substitute Paulista spurned a great chance, meeting an Oxlade-Chamberlain cross with a header that was straight at Courtois, who made a brilliant save. Then Özil had a good chance in the first minute of injury-time when he cut-inside to fire an effort that Courtois saved well.
HT: The hosts have dominated the first 45 minutes, creating a number of good chances in the process. First Cahill met a Pedro freekick to head over the bar before Alonso headed Chelsea in front after Costa’s header hit the bar. Costa then went close when he fired an effort into the side-netting before Pedro’s first-time effort from an Alonso pull-back was parried by Čech.
HT: So Chelsea lead at the break.
