Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Benfica remain top of the league but now move onto 45 points, four points clear of Porto, whilst Tondela remain at the bottom of the league on 10 points before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

FT: Tondela didn’t create many chances in the second-half with their best chance falling to Ferreira, but his strike from-range was comfortable for Ederson. The visitors should be pleased with their first-half performance but they capitulated in the second-half especially after conceding the second goal.

FT: Benfica had some chances prior to the goal with Ramos first denying Živković before denying Jonas. Pizzi then broke the deadlock before Salvio spurned a great chance when his touch let him down when through on-goal. Pizzi then doubled the lead before Jonas’ tame effort was saved by Ramos. Salvio could have added a third but he fired just wide before Silva lobbed Ramos to make it three. Pica then fouled Almeida to concede a penalty and was dismissed for a second yellow and Jonas rubbed salt in the wound; converting the spot-kick to wrap up the victory.

FT: The scoreline doesn’t reflect the complexion of the game as Benfica were left frustrated for the majority of the match much to the credit of the Tondela defence and keeper Ramos, who made some fine saves to deny Benfica in the first-half but after the defence was breached, Benfica took advantage and moved into fifth gear.

FT: So Benfica have made their dominance count and extend their lead at the top of the league by four points.

HT: So will Benfica open the scoring or will Tondela surprise the hosts? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Benfica need to deliver better service to both Jonas and Mitroglou, who are more than capable of putting the ball into the back of the net. They will need to be more clinical given the fact that Tondela have defended resolutely, committing many men behind the ball. Tondela will need to be more clinical in front of goal themselves given the quality of the opposition, who are yet to get out of third gear. The first goal in this match mat be very crucial indeed and should it come from Benfica, it could be curtains for Tondela.

HT: The visitors haven’t really tested Ederson with Wágner coming closest to breaking the deadlock after a misplaced clearance. They have looked dangerous on the break and were unlucky to see the flag go up after Wágner fired home. The visitors have also done well to cope with Benfica’s attacking threat and frustrate the hosts.

HT: Benfica have created the larger number of chances but Tondela have looked dangerous on the break and defended well. First Samaris fired an effort over the bar following a corner before Jonas’ curling effort was denied by Ramos’ fine save. Then Mitroglou miscued a header before Pizzi tested Ramos with a tame strike from-range. Jonas looked set to score when he rounded Ramos but the keeper did well to force the striker wide and stop the move from progressing.

HT: So we’re goalless at the break with nothing to separate the two sides.
