26′ Niang Penalty saved

62′ Nainggolan

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Roma remain in second but now move onto 35 points, four behind leaders Juventus, who they face on Saturday. Milan missed the chance to leapfrog their opponents and remain in third on 32 points.

FT: The match could have been so different had Niang slotted home the penalty, but Szczęsny’s save proved crucial for the hosts, who capitalised to take all three points and close the gap on leaders Juventus.

FT: The hosts controlled the second-half and found the winner through Nainggolan, who curled home brilliantly to put the Giallorossi ahead. Džeko had a few opportunities to double the lead when he met a De Rossi freekick but his effort was palmed away by Donnarumma, although he was offside. He then forced the young keeper into a fine save at his near-post.

FT: The visitors didn’t offer much of a threat in the second-half but did go close when Pašalić fired an effort just wide on the edge of the area. The Rossoneri were restricted to shots from-range and couldn’t beat Szczęsny, who didn’t seem to be troubled since making the save that denied Niang from the penalty-spot. Locatelli and Fernández did go close in the latter stages but both produced routine saves for the Polish goalkeeper.

FT: So Niang’s saved penalty proves to be costly for Milan after Nianggolan’s fine curling strike.

HT: So will Roma make Milan rue their missed penalty or will it be Milan who strikes first? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Roma have been a threat on the flanks and have got into a number of promising positions, but have lacked creativity in the final third with the final pass letting them down. Peres’ injury is a huge blow for the hosts although El Shaarawy will help in giving Džeko more support. Both sides have been sloppy in possession and gifted the opposition the ball when in good positions. Lapadula has made some fine runs but hasn’t been provided with the right service as of yet. Roma need to be more clinical in front of goal given they’ve had the better chances and knowing the threat of Suso and Niang on the break.

HT: Roma did create a few chances and went close when Džeko forced Donnarumma into a fine save after just a minute. Fazio had two good heading opportunities, first his looping header was saved comfortably before heading over the bar. Rüdiger also headed a corner wide before Džeko missed by inches after a fine pass from the former.

HT: Despite Roma having more of the ball in the first 45 minutes and creating a number of good chances, it was Milan who had the best chance from the penalty-spot after Szczęsny bundled Lapadula to the ground. Niang stepped up but his tame effort was palmed away by Szczęsny. The visitors went close when a teasing pass from Suso just evaded Lapadula, who just needed a touch.

HT: So we’re goalless at the break with nothing to separate the two sides.
