S.S.C. Napoli vs F.C. Inter Milan

Serie A

December 2nd

Stadio San Paolo, Napoli, Italy

2′ Zieliński

5′ Hamšík

51′ Insgine

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Napoli move into sixth on 28 points whilst Inter remain in eighth on 21 points before the rest of the weekend’s fixtures.

FT: The damage was done but Napoli should have added to their tally. Ghoulam went close when his curling effort was tipped over before Hamšík’s effort was palmed away by Handanović. Gabbiadini then had a few chances, including a volley he sliced wide. Giaccherini also miscued a volley late-on.

FT: Inter created a number of good chances in the second-half with Perišić coming within inches of the target from first a curling effort and late-on a header. Reina also deserves some credit for Napoli, who did well to deny Candreva a sure goal after Perišić’s pull-back and then tip behind a deflected cross from Palacio.

FT: So Napoli’s first-half display blew away the Nerrazzuri and another goal from Insigne made sure.

45′ During the interval Inter make their first change with Éder replacing Banega.

HT: So will Napoli add to their tally or will Inter come back in this match? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Napoli will need to make sure they don’t concede, as Inter may find inspiration with a goal to come back into the match. Napoli will need to find another goal or two to seal the victory and put the game to bed. Inter will need to continue giving Icardi service, although he has spurned a number of chances, he possesses enough quality to help turn this match around. They need to be more clinical in front of goal and had Icardi taken his chances, the match may have been very different. Should things fail to improve, Inter have a number of fine players on the bench that could be summoned.

HT: Since the two early-goals, Inter created a number of good chances and went close when Icardi fired an effort just wide of the cross-bar. Seconds later the Inter captain had a good chance when Albiol lost possession but Reina was there to keep his side in front. Icardi had further chances moments later when he was played through by Candreva but he decided to pull the ball back instead of going for goal, then Reina made another fine save to deny the Argentine.

HT: The hosts have thoroughly dominated their opponents and are rather unfortunate to not be further ahead. First two quick-fire goals from Zieliński and Hamšík put them in command but they went close on a handful of occasions to add to their tally. First Gabbiadini forced Handanović into a good save before the Italian headed just wide after a fine cross from Insigne, who also went close but again Handanović was there to keep his side in the match. Hamšík went close to his second when his powerful half-volley was palmed away by the Inter keeper before Zieliński’s effort was blocked following a swift-counter.

HT: So Napoli are comfortable ahead at the break.
