Portuguese international André Gomes has finalised his move to FC Barcelona from Valencia CF.
The 23 year old arrived in Catalonia last night for his medical and today signed a five-year contract with the Catalan side after an initial €35m fee was agreed with Los Che. The move is expected to rise to an additional €20m in performance bonuses.
The former Benfica youth product played 41 times for Benfica’s senior side; scoring four times before joining Valencia on-loan in July 2014. In his loan-spell he netted four times in 37 appearances and Valencia opted to make the loan-spell permanent in June 2015, with Gomes signing a five-year contract. He scored five goals in 41 appearances for Los Che last season and helped Portugal win the European Championships.
“I hope to enjoy and win many titles,” Gomes said.
“I have chosen the best club for me. It is an honour and a privilege to wear this shirt.”
Will the move be a success? Let me know in the comments.
