UEFA Euro 2016

Round of 16

June 25th

Parc des Princes, Paris, France

1-0

75′ McAuley (OG)

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Wales will progress into the Quarter-finals of the competition whilst Northern Ireland bow out.

FT: In a game of few chances, Northern Ireland produced some of the best with Hennessey coming to the rescue. Wales had a good chance too with Vokes heading wide from a fine Ramsey pass.

FT: It was very harsh on Northern Ireland who played well and it was unfortunate on McAuley who couldn’t do anything else such was the quality of the cross from Bale.

FT: So Wales progress into the Quarter-finals of the European Championships for the first time.

46′ Lafferty is penalised for a foul.

45′ Northern Ireland get the second-half underway.

HT: So will Wales go ahead or will Northern Ireland find a goal of their own? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: The closest Wales have come is the disallowed goal, where Vokes rose well to head a cross from Taylor and his header may have gone it legally had Ramsey not interfered with play.

HT: Northern Ireland have had the better chances with Hennessey producing some fine saves to deny Ward and Dallas, although neither side has really taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

HT: So we’re goalless at the break, with nothing to separate the two sides.
