real madman city

UEFA Champions League

Semi-final, second-leg

May 4th

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, Madrid, Spain

(Aggregate: 1-0)

20′ Bale

Thanks for joining us.

FT: That was City’s manager Manuel Pellegrini’s final chance to win the competition as their manager with the coach leaving at the end of the season to be replaced by Pep Guardiola.

FT: The visitors were the better team over both legs and will now look to seek their 11th Champions League title against the Rojiblancos who they beat in the Final two years ago.

FT: The hosts sat back in the second-half and possibly should have added to their tally and very nearly did when Bale struck the bar with a header although Hart came to the rescue from a Modrić strike after his defence went to sleep.

FT: The visitors didn’t create enough in truth, the closest was when  Fernandinho struck the post and Agüero fired inches over the bar.

FT: So Los Blancos book their place in the Champions League Final against their city rivals Atlético Madrid in Milan thanks to Bale’s goal.

45′ Ronaldo is caught offside.

45′ The hosts get the game underway.

HT: So will Madrid add to their tally and seal the tie or will City score the away goal that sees them through? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: The score at the break doesn’t change much in the tie with City still knowing that they need to score and should they do, it would mean they would have the advantage with the away goal – thus Madrid would need to score a second.

HT: The hosts have been on top thoroughly and went ahead when Bale was given too much space and his effort was deflected in off-the-post by Fernando. They were also denied a second when Ramos bundled home when Pepe was adjudged to be offside.

HT: The visitors have played well since the huge blow of losing skipper Kompany although they didn’t really create anything until the 43rd minute when Fernandinho’s shot hit the woodwork.

HT: The hosts have done well and had a few clear-cut chances with Ronaldo shooting off-target on separate occasions.

HT: So at the break the hosts are deservedly ahead thanks to Bale’s deflected effort.
