Serie A

April 19th

Stadio San Paolo, Napoli, Italy

10′ Gabbiadini

34′ Gabbiadini (P)

58′ Mertens

80′ Mertens

88′ Mertens

89′ López

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result means that Napoli remain in second, now on 73 points, cutting Juventus’ lead to six points. The result means that Bologna remain in 14th on 37 points, and can be leapfrogged by either of Sampdoria and Udinese should they win tomorrow.

FT: Despite such a dominant performance the visitors know that the victory comes possibly too late for their title-bid, with Juventus having an opportunity to regain their nine point lead with a victory over Lazio tomorrow night.

FT: The only positive the visitors can take is that the scoreline wasn’t into double-figures, thanks to their goalkeeper Mirante who saved them on countless occasions.

FT: So the hosts made light work of that, netting four in the second-half with Mertens netting a fine hat-trick and substitute López netting a late sixth.

90’+1′  The referee blows his whistle to bring the match to an end.

90′ There will be one additional minute.

88′ Goal!! Mertens shifts the ball onto his right foot, before firing an unstoppable effort past Mirante into the roof of the net from outside the box. Another hat-trick!!

85′ Chance!! Ghoulam finds Jorginho who fires harmlessly wide.

80′ Final Napoli change sees Hamšík depart for David López. Final Bologna change sees Diawara depart for Godfred Monsah.

80′ Goal!! A nice exchange from substitute El Kaddouri and Mertens eventually ends with the Belgian being played through after a slip from Rossettini, and the Belgian slots home beating Mirante at his near-post.

77′ Close!! Allan’s cross is half-cleared into the path of Insigne whose acrobatic effort is easy for Mirante.

76′ Second Napoli change sees Callejón depart for Omar El Kaddouri.

73′ Albiol receives a yellow card for a robust aerial challenge on Mounier.

72′ First Napoli change sees goalscorer Gabbiadini depart for Lorenzo Insigne. He’ll be rather disappointed that he hasn’t got his hat-trick tonight, but not a bad susbtitute to bring on.

68′ Chance!! Mertens fires an effort wide from a tight-angle.

62′ The corner comes to nothing before Callejón overhits what should be a straightforward pass into Gabbiadini. The Italian would possibly have had his hat-trick.

58′ Double change for the visitors sees Giaccherini depart for Anthony Mounier and Acquafresca departing for Sergio Floccari.

48′ Callejón concedes a corner.

46′ Hamšík is penalised for a late foul on Brighi, he’s fortunate not to receive a yellow card.

45′ The hosts get the second-half underway.

HT: So will Napoli extend their lead or will Bologna pull a goal or two back? Join us again for the second-half.

HT: Referee Andrea Gervasoni had to make one big decision in the first 45 minutes, awarding a penalty for Constant’s challenge on Callejón, but the former Milan defender can’t have any complaints.

HT: The visitors have been relatively poor in truth and haven’t forced Reina into making a save. The hosts are rather unfortunate to not be further ahead much to the credit of Mirante who has made some fine saves to deny Hamšík and Albiol.

HT: The hosts have thoroughly dominated the possession and have rarely been threatened in the first-period.

HT: So Napoli comfortably ahead at the break with Gabbiadini getting both goals.

45’+1′ The referee blows to bring the first 45 minutes to an end.

45′ There will be one additional minute.
