Liga NOS

March 6th

Estádio AXA, Braga, Portugal

3-1

71′ Hassan

85′ Pereira

89′ Silva

90’+4′ Alan

Thanks for joining us.

FT: The result meant that Porto remain in third with 55 points, but Braga, still in fourth, close the gap to eight points. Porto are now four points behind Sporting and six points behind leaders Benfica.

FT: The visitors were quite fortunate themselves with what was the equaliser at the time. However, two big defensive errors have helped Braga to victory.

FT: It was a deserved victory for the hosts despite scoring in rather fortunate circumstances.

90’+5′ The referee blows his whistle to bring the game to an end and possibly dent Porto’s title ambitions.

90’+4′ Goal!! What a break from the hosts. They could look for the corner flag but instead they look for Alan on the far side of the pitch, Casillas comes flying 35 yards out in an attempt to sweep the ball away, but Alan gets there first before finishing from range into the unguarded net. You have to feel for the Spaniard, he’s come under so much criticism this season and in trying to rescue his team, he left Alan with no option but to slot home.

90’+2′ Final change for the hosts sees Djevan depart for Marcelo Goiano .

90′ Dismissal!! Martins Indi receives his second yellow card and receives his marching orders.

89′ Silva departs for Aarón Ñíguez.

89′ Goal!! Djavan is onside and runs free down the left flank, his low cross evades the Porto defenders to find Silva at the back-post who slots home. They’ve deserved it.

86′ Braga will feel hard-done-by, a matter of seconds between Danilo’s foul and the Porto goal.

85′ Goal!! To rub salt in the wounds, Porto level the scores. Herrera is just onside as he forces Boly into a fantastic block, but the ball falls to Pereira, whose scuffed effort just beats Boly on the line to equalise.

83′ Danilo brings down Hassan cynically and is really fortunate to still be on the pitch. He fouled his man twice, but again the referee keeps his cards in his pocket.

82′ Baiano wins a corner for the hosts. The corner eventually comes to nothing.

80′ So close!! Should have been game over. Silva is played through and with just Casillas to beat, he bends his effort against the outside of the woodwork. Alan was outside if he looked up, but there was only one thing in the winger’s mind.

79′ Layún receives a yellow card for a cynical challenge on Silva.

75′ Final change for the visitors sees Neves depart for Moussa Marega.

74′ First change for Braga with Stojiljković departing for Alan.

73′ Second change for Porto sees André depart for Jesús Corona.

71′ Goal!! Mix-up in the box as Marcano makes a hash of a clearance, Hassan slots home the loose ball sending Casillas the wrong way.

69′ Close!! Aboubakar finds space in the box to fire an effort that Boly does well to block before the defender makes another great block.

69′ Porto win a cheap corner from the hosts as Marafona can’t keep the ball in play. The corner is cleared by the hosts.

68′ Chance!! Santos does terrifically well to beat his man before firing a brilliant delivery into the danger area, but no-one is on-hand to get onto it.

64′ Pereira wins a freekick from Silva, although the Uruguayan had his arms all over the Braga man, catching him on two separate occasions. The freekick comes to nothing.

62′ Close!! Neves finds acres of space to fire just wide of the far post.

60′ First Porto change sees Suk depart for Vincent Aboubakar.

59′ Porto win  a freekick on the right. It’s a good delivery but Marafona punches clear before being awarded a freekick.

58′ Baiano receives a yellow card for a foul on Brahimi. The Algerian made the most of that.

57′ Santos and Martins Indi go into the book for separate fouls.

57′ Hassan is spotted on the run, but his touch is heavy and he loses his footing.

55′ Penalty appeal as Suk goes down in the area, there was contact but more of a tangle of legs. The referee waves play on. Referee’s got that right for me.

55′ Mauro expertly finds Santos, who is in space, but he heads over.

54′ Baiano whips in a good delivery that Pereira clears.

51′ André is walking on a tight-rope, he’s conceded another late foul, but again the referee keeps his cards in his pocket. It comes to nothing in the end.

50′ Neves overhits a cross.

49′ Braga have really started this second half well and Hassan is inches away from connecting with a cross from the left, but he feels he was fouled, the referee was unmoved.

48′ Santos almost plays an eye of the needle pass into Silva, but it’s just overhit.

46′ The visitors win a corner. It’s a good delivery but the move breaks down after Herrera is penalised for a high foot.

45′ The hosts get the second half underway. Pereira wins a soft freekick for the visitors in his own half.

HT: So will Porto get the need they desperately need or will Braga frustrate the Dragons. Join us again for the second half.

HT: Marafona has been tested on a few occasions but has done well tipping a Suk effort just wide before Casillas almost spilled a Baiano effort into his own goal.

HT: So Porto enjoying the majority of the possession but Braga look dangerous on the break. They’ve both come very close with Hassan and Brahimi hitting the woodwork.

45′ The referee blows his whistle to bring the first 45 minutes to an end, with no added time to be played.

44′ Chance!! Baiano surges forward, he cuts inside before curling an effort that Casillas gathers at the second attempt, he actually spilled it.

40′ Danilo Pereira receives a yellow card for dissent.

38′ Chance!! The corner is met by Marcano who heads over.

37′ Herrera wins a corner for the visitors.

36′ The visitors win a corner. It comes to nothing as Suk is eventually offside.

34′ Porto manager José Peseiro has been sent to the stands for dissent, he was well out of his technical area.

33′ So unlucky!! Hassan is played through on-goal, he chips Casillas but is denied by the post. Then Silva is denied on the follow-up by Pereira who clears off the line before Neves blocks Hassan’s rebound.

31′ Carlos does well to surge forward but he’s crowded out and just kicks the ball out of play in an attempt to win a corner.

30′ They work it short before Santos’ curling delivery is claimed by Casillas.

29′ The hosts win a corner.

27′ Close!! Silva does well to wriggle past a few players before firing over.

26′ Suk thinks he’s won a corner but the referee awards a goalkick. Looked like there was a touch from the defender.

24′ Silva loses the ball to Suk, who surges forward before being dispossessed.

23′ So close!! After a long delay, Brahimi’s freekick hits the outside of the post.

21′ Ferreira receives a yellow card for a late challenge on Suk. Good position for the visitors.

18′ André is fortunate to still be on the pitch, he catches his man with his follow-through despite getting a touch on the ball. The referee keeps his cards in his pocket though.

16′ Chance!! Pereira sends in a cross that deflects into the path of Suk who fires over, but he was offside anyway.

15′ André receives a yellow card for a late challenge.

14′ Suk makes a meal of a challenge after going down in the penalty area. Absolutely nothing in that.

10′ Pereira fires an effort harmlessly off-target.

8′ Suk is adjudged to be offside.

5′ Chance!! Braga lose possession and André sends in a teasing delivery that is diverted goalwards by Suk, but Marafona tips it away. Brilliant save.

2′ Silva gets forward but Danilo ricochets the ball off the Braga man to get the goalkick.

0′ The Blues kick us off. An early freekick for the visitors comes to nothing.
